Cars in Germany's Town Discovered Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Police stated they were contacted by a man who found a automobile in Hanau covered with reddish fluid

Approximately fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Cars, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.

Law enforcement report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.

The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.

Police then located multiple other smeared cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement say initial examinations show the liquid was probably human blood.

"There is still no indication as to where it came from; investigators are presently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the incident," they commented.

Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the residents for tips.

A high-ranking representative commented the attack rendered him without words and required to be solved quickly.

"This act hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he posted on social media, recalling the death of nine people by a shooter focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
