'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith continues clash with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he reminisces about the nail-biting closing stages of his team's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The encounter culminated with Galbraith temporarily wearing a supporter's spectacles after the on-field celebration.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a powerful strike from outside the box, and the defender quickly converted the rebound before sprinting toward the East Stand to mark the goal, with the crowd congregating around the players.

Stunning Reversal

This completed an extraordinary turnaround given the Welsh side had found themselves down 2-0 during the latter period. Amid the celebrations, there was some unintended consequences. He shared, "There was a fan sort of calling out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

That win booked a fourth-round game at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a club Galbraith ran close at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. Galbraith had arguably the best view when the underdogs took the lead in stunning style, with the attacker's volley from about way out going in via the crossbar and the opposition keeper. It seems unfair that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've awarded it to him for taking the effort on from that far out," stated Galbraith, who played in the middle before switching to right defensive wing after they changed tactics. That meant facing off against Jack Grealish, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the winger was among the opposition who praised the way the underdogs attacked the game.

City's Quality

"Physically they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and basic skills, they can just do it over and over again," he explains. "It appears that they always find their target and they know how to control and neutralize a game. You can believe you're all right and then suddenly they will just fizz a pass past your midfield without you even seeing. You have to be focused every second of the game. It takes a tough attitude and attention just to stay in the game."

New Chapter

Swansea pushed to sign Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to sign him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He established himself as a crowd pleaser across two seasons at his former club and has swiftly replicated that in his new home. At the London club he joined forces once more with Richie Wellens, who earlier gave Galbraith his first extended run in senior football on loan at a League One side from Old Trafford. Then came a spell at fourth-tier Salford, before he permanently left his boyhood club.

Development Path

"I was perhaps a slightly green going into professional soccer. I think a lot of players would say youth team games is entirely separate. Sometimes it feels like possession is exchanged without much intensity. There are limited hard challenges. Once you start playing first-team football you have to learn quickly."

Country Call-ups

He has demonstrated that development for both domestically and internationally, excelling for Northern Ireland, who could still reach the international competition next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has been selected in the past five games, including two matches fixtures against Germany. The ex-coach, Galbraith's previous international manager, gave him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he handles the football and his knack for a decisive through ball.

Starting Out

It has been a remarkable path for the kid from the Queens Park estate in his hometown, just outside Belfast, who used to see his father, Stuart, also a midfielder, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

The player's single match for Manchester United came in the away trip in 2019, a European competition trip to the Kazakh capital, where they featured on an plastic turf and the venue ceiling was shut owing to the weather of bitter cold. "It was a lengthy journey and it was chilly," he says, chuckling. "The week before, myself and quite a few of the young lads trained together, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to accompany the senior squad and earn some playing time at the end was incredible."

Leaving United

How hard was it to leave United, the club he transferred from aged a teenager? "This turned out fairly simple, because I reached the point where I realized I wouldn't break through at first-team level. I'm extremely thankful for the years at the club but it reached a stage where I believed I needed to go my own route, join a smaller club and play professional soccer. Now I'm slowly working my way back up."

Life in Swansea

This occurs during the middle of the day at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has an appointment at the early evening: a driving theory test, another progress toward getting on the road. Before his recent move to his new neighborhood, the 24-year-old was a frequent passenger in Swansea's nicknamed player transport, a small coach driven by academy staff, the transport team, which transports players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"My companions include a teammate, another squad member, an Ivorian player – Melker Widell used to be in it but has got his license. It's enjoyable to spend time with the teammates but I'm hoping to be the following person to drive independently and behind the wheel. Franco is known for his humor; he's constantly causing mischief."

Supporter Connections

While playing for his former club, Galbraith would blend in with followers on London's Central line after commuting at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
